That's an interesting point you make Oleg, because from a lot of anecdotal videos and books I've read about the USSR, people longed for its return after the collapse.

I don't know whether it's nostalgia or disillusionment with the present, but it's definitely a phenomenon.

I can see some truth in your last point too. Distrust of the government is widespread in America. It's not as pervasive here in the UK, but there is a vocal minority who distrust the government. It doesn't help that the government is full of incompetent buffoons either!
