This isn't true. There are multiple studies which show the damage bitcoin mining does to the environment.
A coal mine flooded in Xinjiang the other week, a mine which powered numerous mining rigs in the region. That shutdown led to a 49% reduction in the hashrate of bitcoin. If bitcoin was environmentally friendly and used mostly renewables, this wouldn't have happened. This paragraph is illiterate and not representative of the reality.
