Travelling changed my life.
You’re probably reading this thinking, “well, of course, you’re going to say that, you’re a travel blogger!”
That may be so, but the statement stands regardless. Travelling changed my life.
Before I started travelling I was going nowhere. I was stuck in a dead-end job I hated. Devoid of confidence and just not happy. I was existing, not living.
One day, coming back from work, I got hit by a car. The driver didn’t see me. I went straight into the side of the car and then straight to the ground. I was lucky to come away with cuts and bruises. Very lucky.
I’d always wanted to go to Australia for as long as I could remember. There was just one problem, I was scared. Scared of going by myself. Scared of the unknown.
That car did me a favour. It made me realise life is too short to not do what you want in life. I might still be stuck in the same situation were it not for that car.
That white Vauxhall Corsa gave me the belief to go to Australia by myself. To do things I’d only dreamed of. To become more confident.
I’ve done some amazing, crazy and downright stupid things these past 5 years, and it’s all because that one event jolted me into action.
I credit travelling with making me who I am today. It opened my eyes to the world and gave me the confidence to believe in myself and follow my own path.
That car did me a huge favour. I’ll have to give it a Christmas card!
