Yep, that’s how those pesky advertisers get you. They are selling an emotion related to the product, not the product itself. I think this is a point many people miss.
Once you are awaken to this fact, like you say, it’s hard to look at adverts in the same way again. I would be, like yourself, very annoyed if I came across adverts everywhere. Thankfully, it’s not too bad here in the UK, but I fear it may get worse.
Have you seen the film Idiocracy? Unfortunately, I have a feeling this is the way things could head if rampant advertising and corporations gan too much power. Hopefully, I’m wrong.
